Abstract:
Riboflavin (B2) and folate (B9) are water-soluble vitamins and play important role in energy metabolism. Vitamins B is often found in food. The aim of this study was to quantitative analysis of vitamin B2 and B9 in honey and rice by HPLC. The chromatographic separation was achieved using isocratic elution of 0.1% formic acid: acetonitrile (85:25 v/v) on C18 column. The flow rate was set at 0.70 mL min-1, and photodiode array detector was performed at 267 nm. The calibration curve for vitamin B2 and B9 was obtained in the range of 0.50-20 and 5.0-35 mg L-1, respectively. The LODs of vitamin B2 and B9 were 0.10 and 1.40 mg L-1, and LOQ were 0.33 and 4.60 mg L-1, respectively. Percent recovery of vitamin B2 and B9 at the concentrations of 10 and 15 mg L-1 was found in the range of 93-113. This technique was fast and simple for the simultaneous determination of vitamin B2 and B9. The concentration of vitamin B2 and B9 in seven samples were found in the range of ND-1.82 mg/kg and 22.7-120 mg/kg, respectively.
