The objectives of this research are to study socio economy, knowledge
perception and attitude of farmers along Mae Ngad Somboonchon irrigation canals and
tilapia farmers towards organic farming and organic aquaculture practice. As well as
factors affecting attitudes as a guideline for promoting organic aquaculture. The two
sample groups were farmers along the irrigation canals and farmer who raise tilapia.
The questionnaire was used as tool to gather data. The results showed that farmers
have a high level of knowledge and positive attitudes towards organic farming and
organic aquaculture. In addition, factors affecting attitudes were different farmers who
lived in different districts, career experiences, chemicals using, knowledge of organic
aquaculture and training. Therefore, these factors are what will lead to further
solutions. In addition, the study of water quality contamination at risk of organic
aquaculture was found to have very low levels of soil contamination of agricultural
chemicals. And the water body used for aquaculture has optimal in physical, chemistry
and biological used in aquaculture. With all of this information, the environment is not
an obstacle for promoting organic tilapia culture in Mae gad, Parpai, Sansai, Chiang Mai.
