This research program in title of innovative agricultural management
for sustainable tourism in Chiang Mai province, Thailand to 1) examines the factors
effecting to the perception on eco-innovativeness of modern agricultural farms
entrepreneurs and agrotourists, 2) to know the platform of modern agriculture that
appropriate to sustainable tourism management and 3) to develop the application
model on modern agricultural promotion for sustainable tourism in Chiang Mai
province. The field work combines varied sources, including in-depth interviews,
survey, observation, meeting, focus groups and so on. The management of
agricultural innovation in the case study areas was affected by restructuring in their
local economic, involving growing economic difficulties for the agricultural sector;
new investment in residential development and tourism, and growth in alternative
income sources for the local communities. There are different strategic management
between three sectors including private sector, government/ state enterprise and
communities. Anyway, all of sectors’ agrotourism initiatives were affected by a
changing national political and policy context. Furthermore, agricultural management
innovation for sustainable tourism in Chiang Mai agrotourism management from all of
stakeholder were very important to success because of these interventions assisted
the agricultural sector to survive the economic restructuring, providing
supplementary income and local markets for their farm produce and crafts.
