This research has objectives as 1) To study the role and importance of undertaker. 2) To study the processes and methods 3) To create an understanding of the role, duties and importance of the undertaker in society in Lamae District, Chumphon Province This research is qualitative data collection done by the in-depth interviews with a total of 23 informants, from the undertakers and people in Lamae District, Chumphon Province. The results of the research showed that the undertakers occurred in the modern era. Based on beliefs, doctrine, and rituals in Buddhism and Brahmanism- Hinduism Integrated into the ritual. People cannot do this duty because they believe in the mysteries of the invisible spirits. People who can work in this profession must be qualified. According to ancient traditions, the method of work depends on the source of the study. If the knowledge comes from any teachers, each undertaker often has different ritual procedures. In the community, there will be people who know the ritual of the funeral management. Those involved in letting the rituals done properly according to the pattern of each community. The main role of the undertakers today is to manage the body. It is especially during the cremation day and the next early morning day of collecting the bones. There are some changes in the work process to make it more suitable for the recent days. The importance of the undertakers can be considered as a career based on beliefs and rituals. They have to comfort and give supports to the relatives of those who have died, without violating religious doctrine
and morals. People still consider this profession as an important profession which cannot be missed in the modern times.
