The most common problem in dogs is the presence of external parasites, especially ticks
and fleas. In general, the prevention and removal of external parasites in dogs are commonly used
chemical medicine to get rid of external parasites. Improper usage of chemical medicine can cause
adverse reactions and the toxin may have to remain in the environment. The objective of this study
were to investigate the in vitro efficacy of Zanthoxylum limonella oil, citronella oil, clove oil,
peppermint oil and ginger oil against ticks and fleas from dogs and to evaluate the satisfaction of
using essential oils on dogs. Five essential oil were tested for in vitro efficacy against ticks and
fleas. Then choose 2 of the most effective essential oils to test on your dog’s skin. The results
revealed 16% of Zanthoxylum limonella oil, citronella oil, clove oil, peppermint oil and ginger oil
oils exhibited the effective in inhibiting the spawning of female engorged tick period. Moreover, 5
essential oils at the concentration exhibited the effective in inhibiting the spawning of female
engorged tick period. In addition, all five essential oils had a high ability to kill tick larvae start
from a concentration of 2%. Furthermore, 4% of 5 essential oils were the the fastest effective in
eliminating fleas especially clove oil which can kill flea 100% within an hour. aSixteen percent of
clove oil were most satisfied with the application on the dog’s skin with the low percent of adverse
effects. This can be developed as a Pharmaceutical product for ticks and fleas control in pets as
well as livestock. This can replace the use of chemical pesticides that will be very beneficial for
both consumers and environment. Additionally, it also increases the value of local herbal products.
