บทบาทของเชื้อราอาบัสคูลาร์ไมคอร์ไรซ่า(arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, AMF) และโกลมาลิน-สารสัมพันธ์โปรตีนในดินนั้น เป็นแนวทางหนึ่งในการนำไปใช้ในการปรับปรุงคุณภาพของดินและระบบการผลิตทางการเกษตร และเชื่อมโยงไปยังการเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการใช้น้ำของพืช ดังนั้นงานวิจัยนี้จึงศึกษาบทบาทของสารโกลมาลินและไมคอร์ไรซาที่มีต่อสมบัติของดินและมีผลต่อพืชในการเพิ่มความสามารถในการดูดใช้ธาตุอาหาร โดยเฉพาะพืชเศรษฐกิจ ซึ่งถ้าสามารถหาสายพันธุ์ของอาบัสคูลาร์ไมโครไรซ่าที่มีความสามารถสร้างสารโกลมาลินแล้วทำให้สมบัติทางเคมีและกา
