This study aimed to investigate the stakeholder expectations and requirements for a Master of Accounting program at Maejo University. Data were collected from four groups: 1)program coordinators and faculty, 2 ) alumni, 3 ) current students, and 4 ) employers. Data collection methods included focus group discussions and a content analysis of job postings from five relevant databases.
Results indicated that all stakeholders emphasized the need for a program that aligns with the evolving demands of the accounting profession. Alumni sought opportunities for career advancement, diverse career paths, and the application of research skills in a systematic manner. Current students expressed a desire for personal and professional development, particularly in areas such as IT application, data analytics, and strategic thinking. Employers highlighted the need for graduates with a strong foundation in accounting standards, technical skills, and soft skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
The findings of this study provide valuable insights for curriculum development and enhancement to better meet the needs of students, alumni, and employers in the accounting field.
