At present, fossil fuels were trended to decline and possible to depleted in the near future. Thailand is an agricultural country with a lot of agricultural wastes. Previously, some of them used with burning method which could affects the environment and health of the people in the community. On the other hand, agricultural wastes if applied to produce fuel pellets and brought into torrefaction process to upgrade quality energy it might be helpful to produce high heating and electricity
which can be reduce the energy imports and promote the use of renewable energy in the country. Therefore, the objective of research needs to upgrade agricultural wastes biomass by using densification and torrefaction processes for produce electricity for the community. The upgrading of biomass was studied with different parameters including biomass properties, pelletizing process, and physical biomass pellet properties. The torrefaction process was observed in temperature and time reaction between 200-400 ?C and 20-40 minutes with analyzed the maximum energy
and mass yields. Subsequently, it will be used biomass pellet into suitable temperature and
time torrefaction and then brought torrefied pellets were analyzed chemical and physical properties again for quality confirmation. Consequently, each process was studied with energy input
and analyzed production cost of torrefied pellets. The result was found that, the appropriate temperature and time torrefaction of corn cob, palm leaves and wood residue of 200 ?C 20 min, 200 ?C 40 min and 200 ?C 20 min, respectively. The suitable of temperature and moisture of pellets production in a range of 64-80?C and 10-21%, respectively. The physical properties of biomass pellets and torrefied pellets were standard, the use of zeolite 5A and sand bed were affected
and reduce physical properties while the chemical and energy properties were increased.
The most energy was loss of produce torrefied pellets was lose from torrefaction process.
The torrefied pellets production by bed type was higher total cost than non-bed type. The total cost of corn cob, palm leaves and wood residue in a range of 11,711-18,525 BAHT/Ton-biomass.
