The objectives of this project were to study the effects of natural rubber (NR), epoxidized natural rubber (ENR), foam processing temperatures and vulcanized systems on properties of rubber foam filled with defatted rice bran (DRB). Cure characteristics, cell morphology, water absorption, mechanical properties, heat aging resistance and dynamic properties were investigated. The properties of NR and ENR foams filled with 30 phr of DRB were compared. The results indicated that NR foam showed greater cell size, mechanical properties and heat aging resistance. However, ENR foam exhibited more uniform of cell size and better damping properties. The different sulphur vulcanization systems were also compared. The Conventional vulcanization system (CV) gave NR foam with highest tensile strength, tear strength and loweest compression set value. Moreover, the foam processing temperature at 160 ?C gave greater cell size, as compared to foam processing temperature at 150 ?C.
