10 May 2023, Associate Professor Dr. Weerapon Thongma, President of Maejo University together with the executives of the University, faculties, schools, college, office, and science park paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Tsai, Chi-Chang, Vice-President of the Legislative Yuan, Taiwan (R.O.C) who has been awarded with the doctorate honorary degree in Tourism Development from Maejo University in 2019. The delegation also met with the Ministry of Education (MOE), Taiwan (R.O.C) and the delegation from National Taiwan University. On this opportunity, the MJU delegation requested from the MOE to increase the number of Chinese language teacher from Taiwan from 1 person/year to 2 persons/year to respond to a higher demand at MJU. The request has received a positive response from the MOE. Moreover, the MJU delegation had a chance to meet and discuss academic collaborations with the Associate Dean of College of Bio-Resources & Agriculture and the Dean of School of Veterinary Medicine, National Taiwan University in order to support the establishment of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at MJU.
In the afternoon, the MJU delegation was invited to visit National Taiwan University, the number one government university of Taiwan and also a regular member of SEARCA’s University Consortium in which MJU is the affiliate member. The MJU delegation listened to the lecture from the Associate Dean of College of Bio-Resources & Agriculture regarding the advancement of the College and the activity under the SEARCA’s University Consortium including BACT (Biodiversiy, Agriculture, and Culture of Taiwan Summer Program) which will be held at National Taiwan University in June. This event will also be joined by the MJU student. During the discussion, the delegation from College of Bio-Resources & Agriculture promised to support MJU to become the regular member of the SEARCA’s University Consortium. After that, the MJU delegation listened to the lecture from School of Veterinary Medicine. On this opportunity, Assistant Professor Dr. Phacharaporn Tadee presented the progress of the establishment of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at MJU and offer to initiate collaborations between the two institutions. After that, the MJU delegation visited the veterinary hospital of National Taiwan University which is a large and fully and high-technologically equipped hospital.
