รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.วีระพล ทองมา อธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยแม่โจ้ เข้ารับโล่เกียรติยศนักเรียนเก่าฟิลิปปินส์ดีเด่น ปี 2565 จากสมาคมนักเรียนเก่าฟิลิปปินส์ในพระบรมราชูปถัมภ์ ถือเป็นรางวัลอันทรงคุณค่าในฐานะนักเรียนเก่าฟิลิปปินส์ที่ได้สร้างผลงานอันเป็นคุณูปการแก่วงการศึกษาไทย ในงาน Sampaguita Day ณ ห้องมัฆวานรังสรรค์ AB สโมสรกองทัพบก ถนนวิภาวดี กรุงเทพมหานคร
รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.วีระพล ทองมา ศิษย์เก่าแม่โจ้รุ่นที่ 49 ปัจจุบันดำรงตำแหน่ง อธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยแม่โจ้ สำเร็จการศึกษาระดับปริญญาเอก สาขาวิชา Extension Education, College of Public Affairs and Development จาก University of the Philippines Los Ba?os ประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ ในปี พ.ศ.2543 เคยได้รับรางวัล UPLBAA Presidential Award ในงาน 103rd UPLB Loyalty Day ประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ ซึ่งเป็นรางวัลสูงสุดของรางวัลทั้งหมด (Best of The Best) ในฐานะศิษย์เก่า UPLB จาก University of the Philippines Los Ba?os Alumni Association รวมถึงได้รับรางวัลศิษย์เก่าดีเด่นประจำปี พ.ศ. 2562 (2019 Outstanding UPLB Alumnus Award) และศิษย์เก่าดีเด่นประจำปี 2562 ในด้านการเป็นผู้นำการศึกษา (2019 College Distinguished Alumnus for Educational Leadership Award) ในงานฉลอง 101st UPLB Loyalty Day ณ มหาวิทยาลัยแห่งชาติประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ (University of the Philippines Los Ba?os)
Associate Professor Dr. Weerapon Thongma, the President of Maejo University awarded 2022 The Outstanding Philippine Alumni in recognition of his contributions to Education and the Academe Leadership from The Philippines Alumni Association Under the Patronage of His Majesty the King. He was honored for his important contribution to promoting inter-country linkages among Southeast Asian higher education institutions.
Dr. Weerapon Thongma is an alumnus of the University of the Philippines Los Ba?os, College of Public Affairs and Development (UPLB CPAf) and was actively involved in the international cooperation linkage during his graduate studies at UP Los Ba?os. He received the UPLBAA Presidential Award during the 103rd Loyalty Day and Alumni Awarding Ceremony organized by the University of the Philippines Los Ba?os (UPLB) and the UPLB Alumni Association (UPLBAA) on 10 October 2021 and received the 2019 Outstanding UPLB Alumnus Award and 2019 College Distinguished Alumnus for Educational Leadership Award in the 101st UPLB Loyalty Day Celebration on 9 October 2019.
