The Faculty of Information and Communication at Maejo University is driving forward its teaching initiatives by collaborating with TikTok on the Smart People Development Program.

On February 28, 2025, at Government House, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, hosted a reception for Mrs. Helena Lersch, Vice President of Public Policy at TikTok, and her delegation. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of a strong business partnership, innovation development, and supporting the sustainable transition to the digital era. The success of TikTok, with over 50 million users in Thailand, highlights the platform's significant role in connecting people and stimulating content creation that drives the country's economy.

Mrs. Helena Lersch expressed her gratitude for the government’s support, sharing that TikTok plans to invest an additional 8.8 billion USD over the next five years.

During this event, Dr. Napat Ruangnapakul, Associate Dean for Research, Academic Services, and International Relations at Maejo University's Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, was invited to attend as a partner in the Smart People Development Project. This initiative supports the development of teaching content aimed at nurturing digital citizens and promoting digital media literacy, which is part of the Digital Citizenship course at Maejo University. The program is a collaboration with five other Thai higher education institutions.
