Maejo University's Faculty of Agricultural Production Signs Agreements with Organizations in Laos PDR to Advance Personnel, Education, and Technology
From February 5-7, 2025, a delegation from Maejo University's Faculty of Agricultural Production, led by Assoc. Prof. Vinai Saengkaew, Deputy Dean for Administration, along with Asst. Prof. Dr. Oraphin Saritnam, Assistant Dean, and Dr. Koblap Areesrisom, Chair of the Resource Management and Development Program, traveled to the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) for academic and technical collaboration.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Academic Cooperation was signed with Dr. Vongsavanh Vongkaysone, Director of the Lao-Korea Rural Development Training Center, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, witnessed by Mr. Sypaphai Xaisongkham, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
- A practical demonstration on Maejo Standard Plot Preparation Techniques and No-Turn Composting was conducted for approximately 50 officials from 10 departments of the ministry.
- The event was hosted at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Lao PDR.

A second MoU was signed with Dr. Phouvin Phousavanh, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, National University of Laos (NUOL).
- Discussions were held on developing a Dual Degree program and strengthening academic collaboration.
- A special lecture and practical demonstration on Maejo Standard Plot Preparation Techniques were conducted for faculty, staff, and students of NUOL.
- A high-level meeting with Dr. Chathakhone Boualaphanh, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, and senior officials explored strategies for agricultural development in Laos, focusing on personnel training, education, and technology transfer.
- As part of the cooperation, two scholarships were awarded to Mr. Sypaphai Xaisongkham and Mr. Soukthavinh Sangsomsak under the faculty’s academic collaboration with the ministry.
Additionally, in partnership with NUOL’s Faculty of Agriculture, a Ph.D. scholarship in Resource Management and Development was granted to Miss Charouvanh Bouthong.

The delegation met with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dexanourath Seneduangdeth, President of the National University of Laos (NUOL), and participated in another MoU signing ceremony with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somkhit Boulidam, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, NUOL.
- Discussions covered curriculum development, academic cooperation, faculty and personnel training, and the establishment of an academic service center.
These agreements mark a significant step in strengthening agricultural education, research, and personnel development between Maejo University and Laos, fostering long-term collaboration in agriculture and technology.
