The collection of local Thai – melon (Cucumis melo L.) varieties from 4 Northern Thailand Province namely Chiang Mai , Lumphun , Lumpang , Chang Rai and commercial Thai – melon varieties. The collection was conducted between January to December 2010. The variety collected were 124 local from Chiang Mai province , 37 varieties from Lumphun province , 61 varieties from Lumpang , 64 varieties from Chiang Rai province and 8 commercial varieties. Each variety differs in the skin surface , the pattern of the surface , the rind thickness , the rind color , the flesh color , the flesh thickness , the fruit skin color , the fruit shape and flavor
