The objective of this quasi-experimental research is to examine the effectiveness of Twelve Step Facilitation Program on alcohol abstinence among alcohol dependent. Data collection was from March to July 2019. The subjects were male alcohol-dependent patients. Sixty subjects were divided into the Twelve Step Facilitation Program and usual psychosocial therapy groups with thirty in each group. The research instruments were consisted of 1) the personal data form 2) the Time Line Follow-Back, and 3) the Twelve Step Facilitation Program. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Wilcoxon Signed – Ranks test, and Mann Whitney U Test.
The results revealed that:
1. After completing of the Twelve Step Facilitation Program, the subjects had significant upper the score of percent of abstinence days than that before receiving program, at the level of .001 and had significant lower the score of percent of heavy drinking days than that before receiving program, at the level of .001
2. After completing the interventions, the score of percent of heavy drinking days and percent of abstinence days of male alcohol dependent patients between the experimental group and control group were not significantly different
